Sketchbook Company Start Up Gets Boost from College Intern
Leda Intern Johnathan Swayne

Kirkland, January 16, 2016

College debate champion Johnathan Swayne will serve as marketing intern for the start up company Leda Art Supply of Kirkland. The company sells premium art journals on Amazon. Swayne, a senior communication major at Northwest University, is a skilled photographer and videographer. He will work on media projects to spread the news about the wonders of Leda.

Some of his tasks:
  • Photographing new products such as the "Mother" and "Baby" Leda sketchbooks about to be released.
  • Producing product videos such as interviews with artists who love Leda.
  • Managing live pod casts about the joy of sketching.
  • Launching our Ebay presence.

At the World Debate Championships
"We are so pleased to have John join us here in our office," said GJ Gillespie, Creative Director and founder of the company dedicated to 'helping artists make the world a more beautiful place.'

"He is a top student about to graduate with a 3.9 GPA. In my Amazon sellers training our mentors taught us to hire people smarter than you are. We couldn't find a better intern," says Gillespie.

"Since John's career goal is to become an internet entrepreneur, he is the perfect budding professional to help our customers understand what a great product we are offering."

Swayne recently returned from the World Universities Debating Championships in Thessaloniki, Greece. 800 students from all over the world spent a week debating current events. When the nine debate rounds were over, John and his partner Marlene Pierce (an artist and Leda customer) placed in the top one third of those entered. The pair faced top teams from major universities such as Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard.  Swayne has a long list of debate and speaker awards from speech competitions across the US and Canada. Proving that he is an adept communicator.

Mother Leda welcomes John to our team!
